Performance and Features

Find answers to common questions about maintaining your Futura boat trailer.

How to maintain trailer?

Regular maintenance of your Futura trailer includes checking the brakes, lights, and tires. Clean the anodized aluminium surface to prevent corrosion. Ensure that all moving parts are lubricated and functioning properly.

Do I need to wash my trailer?

Rinse After Every Trip. Even aluminium trailers benefit from a good freshwater rinse. Salt deposits and road grime can cause corrosion over time, so make it a habit to wash your trailer after every outing. Pay extra attention to moving parts like the jockey wheel, hubs, and winch.

**Important**: If you drive through road works and get lime splashes on your trailer, wash it immediately. Lime can cause discoloration and damage the anodised finish, leaving permanent marks if not removed quickly.

What is the warranty?

We offer a five-year limited warranty for the chassis and a one-year warranty for the components, supported by local service and parts available from our manufacturing facility in New Zealand.

Can I customize it?

Yes, Futura offers some customization options to suit your specific needs. You can choose features such as coloured winch plates or Multi-fit couplings. Contact our team to discuss your requirements.

What fasteners are used?

Our trailers are built using premium anodized aluminum, providing excellent resistance to corrosion. To fully utilize the non-corrosive features of our trailer, we employ 316 stainless steel fasteners that are meticulously isolated from the aluminum using nylon components and acetal separation washers.

What type of tyres do Futura Trailers use?

We use 8PR Light Truck tires, designed for durability and excellent load-carrying capacity. These tires provide superior traction and stability, making towing safe and reliable.

What type of brakes do Futura Boat Trailers have?

Some of our trailers are equipped with 304 stainless steel slip-on rotors and 304 stainless steel calipers, offering corrosion resistance and braking performance, especially in marine environments. Note: 304 is not the same as 316 Stainless Steel so the brakes will require replacing eventually.

Do Futura Boat Trailers come with bunks or rollers?

We offer both options, but our multi-roller trailers are the most popular choice. These fully adjustable rollers provide excellent support and make launching and retrieving your boat effortless. Bunk trailers are also available for specific boat types.
